We are back to one in-person service at 10:30 AM!!
Of course, we will continue to follow all the AB Government’s Covid 19 health protocols required for 'Places of Worship' as we have done all along.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as feel comfortable to come in person on Sundays at 10:30 AM. Of course, we will continue to live stream and record our services for those who are not able to make it in person to Taylor Seminary.
There is no need to register as we can now accommodate 74 people which reflects the 1/3 of capacity requirement. This number is above our regular attendance before Covid.
If you have any questions, please contact Janice Johnsson by emailing heritageva@gmail.com or calling/texting 780 699 6315.
God bless you all!
Pastor Larry
As you may or may not have heard, Premier Kenney announced the details of the Alberta Government’s Stage 3 Reopening Strategy on Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021.
He announced that Places of Worship can resume meeting in person at 15% of Fire Code attendance, starting this Friday, May 28.
As a result we will resume two morning services beginning this Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
We will resume all the standards we were following for our two morning service reset:
- we will continue to follow all required AB Health protocol as usual. These have not been lifted by the gov't for this phase.
- the 11 am service will be live streamed/recorded as before. Just use the link at the top of this page.
- cleaning/sanitizing between services will resume as before.
If you had a "default" time for the morning service already registered, you will automatically be placed in that time slot. If you would like to change the service time you would like to attend or confirm what time you were registered for, please email Janice at heritageva@gmail.com or call/text 780 699 6315. If you had not yet registered previously and would like to be added to one of the two services or indicate you will not be attending, please contact Janice.
Looking ahead, Stage 2 (likely mid June), will hopefully allow us to meet with 1/3 of attendance capacity. At that point, we will most likely go back to one service once we are allowed 33% capacity of Fire Code. This is still to be determined.
On Tuesday, May 4/21 the Alberta Government announced further Covid 19 restrictions for faith gatherings/worship services.
Only 15 people are now allowed per service for the next three weeks.
In our case at Heritage Valley Assembly, it takes us 11-13 people to conduct a service. Therefore, we would only be allowed an additional 2-4 people to attend in the congregation per service under this new requirement.
Therefore, commencing this Sunday morning, May 9/21 we are moving from holding our regular two on site morning services to only ONE ONLINE morning service at 10:30 am...
It is our plan that after the 3 week expanded restrictions period concludes, we will resume our two onsite morning service formats at 9:30 am and 11:00 am; and, online service at 11:00 am.
We are praying we are able to readjust back on Sunday, May 30/21.
God bless you and you can connect on line via www.heritagevalleyassembly.com
Thank you!
Pastor Larry
Late on Tuesday afternoon, April 6, Premier Kenney held a press conference. In case you missed it, the AB Gov't announced: due to the new challenges, Alberta is moving back to Stage 1 from Stage 2. We as faith groups are not being affected by this change. Specifically, faith groups are allowed to continue to gather together in person at 15% capacity of fire code capacity as has been the case previously. Therefore as a church will continue to meet in person at this cap. We are grateful for this decision.
As you likely are aware, we moved to two Sunday morning services last Sunday. We are pleased it went well. As a result, we will continue to offer this format with the first service from 9:30 - 10:30 AM and the second service from 11 - 12 Noonish or a bit thereafter.
Each service will not exceed the 15% capacity so if you are desiring to attend and have not already communicated with Janice in the office about your default preference, please call or text 780 699 6315 or email heritageva@gmail.com .
As we have followed all AB Health guidelines from the beginning, we will continue to do so. These include: Social Distancing, Mandatory face masks, not attending if ill, etc. In addition between services, we have volunteers cleaning all high touch areas, bathrooms, and sanctuary.
Hello HVA Family,
We have wonderful news to share! In conversation with Taylor Seminary, they are allowing us to meet in person once again. Our first Sunday back will be March 7th. At this time, attendance will still be capped at 15% of fire code capacity, as per the AB Health restrictions; namely 33.
With the ministry team at 11, (this includes the worship/music team, technical/recording team, usher, greeter, and name/information recorder) we have room for 22 more.
This will be a "first come, first served" scenario. If you would like to attend on Sunday, March 7th, please respond by email as soon as possible. Once the cap has been reached, Janice will send out another email, informing all.
We look forward to a potential announcement by AB Health on Monday, March 22. If all goes well, Phase 3 of the AB Health relaunch is to announce that all faith gatherings can meet at 30% fire code capacity. This will allow 66 to attend.
Let's continue to pray, encouraging ourselves and one another in the Lord.
Blessings,
Pastor Larry
Hi All,
The Alberta Government and Health Services extended the COVID-19 restrictions brought forward earlier this month. Therefore, we will not be meeting on-site at Taylor Seminary until further notice.
In the meantime, we are so pleased to share our Sunday morning services and Tuesday prayer time on our church website, www.heritagevalleyassembly.com .
Please tune into our website at heritagevalleyassembly.com at 10:30 AM on Sunday morning to participate and worship along with us.
You may also access our Facebook page at Heritage Valley Assembly, or find us on Youtube: Heritage Plus, throughout the week.
If you have any questions, I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings,
Pastor Larry
IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING SUNDAY SERVICES BEGINNING DECEMBER 13, 2020
Hi All,
I trust you are all well and continuing to trust God in your current circumstances. There are many in our congregation who are in need of prayer. If you are one of them, please be assured that we stand with you!
There have been new developments in the AB Health restrictions the last week and as a result, Taylor Seminary has informed us that out of caution, they will be closing their facility effective immediately until at least January 11, 2021.
As a result, there will be no on-site Sunday morning service at Taylor Seminary until further notice. However, we have been blessed to secure Taylor for on-line recording.
Thankfully we are still able to meet together for on-site worship services at Taylor Seminary. Our gratitude to Taylor Seminary for enabling us to meet in their facilities. As well, we appreciate our government leadership for permitting faith groups to continue to meet on-site during this proclaimed Health Emergency.
HVA's capacity to accommodate on site in-person worshippers will continue like we have done since June 2020. We will continue to require masks to be worn and discourage singing.
Of course, we will continue to diligently follow all the health requirements for on-site gatherings: social distancing (6 ft), mandatory mask wearing, hand sanitization, etc.
Please check the link for an update concerning the newly revised Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Mitigation requirements for in person, on-site faith/worship services at Enhanced Public Health Measures for COCID-19
Please continue to follow the steps below.
STEP #1 – SELF ASSESSMENT TOOL
Please refer to and take the on-line Self Assessment Tool provided by Alberta Health at https://myhealth.alberta.ca/journey/covid-19/Pages/COVID-Self-Assessment.aspx
Please do not come to church if you:
- Have any of the symptoms that are mentioned in the Self Assessment Tool
- Have a fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, or shortness of breath
- Have been in close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days
- Have traveled out of Canada within the last 14 days
We will have a hard copy of the Self-Assessment Tool Questionnaire at the front door for reference, in case you have not assessed yourself.
STEP #2 – PARKING LOT PROTOCOL
If you are healthy and able to come to church, upon parking your car, ensure you maintain physical distancing of 2 meters or 6 feet (a hockey stick length) from others, as you move toward the front door of Taylor Seminary. If there is a line-up waiting to enter, please continue to maintain this distance as you wait.
STEP #3 – OUTSIDE DOOR CHECK-IN
As you approach the outside front doors, I will have the pleasure of greeting you. I will be masked, and will ensure you are not ill. I will also pace your entry into the building to guarantee physical distancing. You will be given an opportunity to put on a mask (provided) and sanitize your hands.
As you know the City of Edmonton passed a bylaw requiring the wearing of face masks while indoors at public meetings. However, as you know, the City of Edmonton also issued Exemption Cards to any who are unable to wear masks.
If you have received an Exemption Card, please do not hesitate to attend church at Taylor Seminary. It is a joy to have seen so many return to worship on site at Taylor over the last two months. However, we look forward to seeing those of you who may still feel uncomfortable attending in person...to return when you are ready! We have dearly missed seeing you in person!
STEP #4 – INSIDE FRONT DOOR CHECK-IN
As you enter through the inside front doors, you will be met by a wonderful volunteer greeting you.
They will also be masked; they will ensure that you physically distance yourself as you make your way down the marked hallway to Stencel Hall.
STEP #5 – CHECK-IN TABLE
As you draw closer to the sanctuary doors, another volunteer will record your name for attendance purposes. Please be assured this information will be kept confidential. We will never be asked for the attendance records by medical authorities except in the event someone in our congregation develops COVID-19. The information would be shared for tracing purposes to alert others of exposure to the disease.
STEP #6 – SANCTUARY SERVICE
As you enter Stencel Hall, you will be greeted by an usher who will also be masked. Hand sanitizers will be provided in the sanctuary for your convenience, as they are elsewhere in the facility.
You may choose where to sit or if you are unsure, please ask for assistance from the usher, who will be happy to assist you. However, you must only sit with your family members or your cohort group that you’ve connected to during this pandemic.
You will need to physically distance yourself by 2 meters (6 ft) from each other. These requirements apply to people beside you, behind you, or in front of you. A suggestion is to keep 2 seats, horizontally and 2 rows vertically between you and the next family group. Again, the usher(s) will be of assistance if you are unsure of where to sit.
During our worship time, an offering plate will not be passed around but a container will be positioned in the back of the Sanctuary for your tithes and offerings to be deposited. However, you can continue to give on-line by visiting our church website www.heritagevalleyassembly.com if that is more convenient.
There will now be congregational singing since everyone will be wearing a mask. There will be a time of intercessory prayer and a sharing of the Word from our pastors. We will encourage you to warmly and graciously welcome one another, but with no physical touch (ie. handshake, hugs, etc.). Please indicate your care with a thumbs up, hand wave, etc.
As well, it is to be noted that our service will be on-line live through Face Book; the Sunday service will also be recorded, edited and placed on-line to our church website www.heritagevalleyassembly.com , on our YouTube Channel, Heritage Plus by Tuesday each week. In other words, if you are unable to attend Taylor Seminary on Sunday’s, we will continue to present our on-line services to serve you.
STEP #7 – FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE
Upon concluding our worship service, our ushers will once again assist you to physically distance as we exit the sanctuary. We may now exit through the front doors.
Please note, Taylor Seminary has rightfully restricted usage of the Common Area and kitchen before, during and after the service. Therefore, no food or refreshments will be available on Sunday mornings during this active COVID-19 phase. Eventually, as permitted by provincial authorities, we will be able to more fully fellowship with food, drink and potlucks.
As you return to your vehicle or transportation in the parking lot, please maintain the required physical distancing of 2 meters or 6 feet.
Our washrooms are accessible as normal.
An assigned individual will cleanse and sanitize all high touch areas as individuals are arriving, while the service is going on, and upon leaving. We will be treating possible infection areas, taking care to sanitize thoroughly.
With God we are victors, not victims! With God our church will move forward, not fall behind! With God, His kingdom shall be built, not diminished!
Sincerely yours,
Love you all!
Pastor Larry
Preamble....We are thankful we could reconvene as a church at Taylor Seminary on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 10:30 AM. However as we do, our church leadership team fully understands the potential for the spread of COVID-19 within our precious church.
As a result, church leadership has designed a comprehensive Action Plan based upon the guidelines established by the Gov’t of Alberta and the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta, to minimize the risk of any potential spread and impacts of COVID-19 on our congregation.
On Saturday, May 23, 2020, you received a copy of this Action Plan by email correspondence. However this updated information, sent today, is provided to show you what to expect as you come to Heritage Valley Assembly in the Sunday’s ahead. In an effort to make this as clear as possible, we’ll walk step-by-step through the Sunday morning experience.
STEP #1 – SELF ASSESSMENT TOOL
Please refer to and take the on-line Self Assessment Tool provided by Alberta Health at https://myhealth.alberta.ca/journey/covid-19/Pages/COVID-Self-Assessment.aspx

1. We are now able to have in-person services with no cap on attendance, as long as physical distancing of 2 metres is maintained between families and household cohorts.
As you can appreciate this will be an inconvenience to us all until the cap on attendance per Sunday is lifted by provincial authorities.
2. Our washrooms are accessible as normal.
3. An assigned individual will cleanse and sanitize all high touch areas as individuals are arriving, while the service is going on, and upon leaving. We will be treating possible infection areas, taking care to sanitize thoroughly.
4. Finally, this phase will be different than what we’ve known, but God has not changed and His love and care will consistently go with us, as we move into a new and exciting stage of our church’s development and growth!
With God we are victors, not victims! With God our church will move forward, not fall behind! With God, His kingdom shall be built, not diminished!

STEP #7 – FOLLOWING THE WORSHIP SERVICE
Upon concluding our worship service, our ushers will once again assist you to physically distance as we exit the sanctuary. As well, guidelines require we exit Taylor Seminary through a different door than where we arrived. As a result, you will be asked to exit the building through the north-east doors leading from the Common Area.
FINAL THOUGHTS....
1. As most of you know, we are allowed to have 50 people in attendance per week. However, we’ve decided that those who have had no access to on-line services the last ten weeks, be given the courtesy of being able to attend regularly as they are able.
Next, we are required to have enough volunteers on site each Sunday to ensure we fully comply with the civic authorities requirements. Therefore, this leaves us with the ability to have a remaining 35 or so attendees each Sunday. Yet, this will not enable our entire church to meet all together each Sunday. As a result, we’ve instructed our church’s Administrative Assistant, Janice Johnsson to connect with you to determine your planned attendance. You will have received an RSVP Required Email yesterday. If you haven’t already, please reply. This will ensure a smoother Sunday morning.

Love you all!

Hi Everyone,
In a post yesterday, I laid out our church’s approach to collective on line ministry (teaching/ prayer) during this pandemic.
Today, I want to inform you of our pastoral care presence within our church family and community...one on one.
• 1. Wonderfully, we have 17 volunteers from our church who have agreed to serve on our Pastoral Tele-Care Team under my direction and leadership...
• 2. Each of our Pastoral Tele-Care Team members are being assigned at least 5 individual’s names from our church family and community at large groups.
• 3. They will connect remotely (by phone, FaceTime, etc) with those 5 individuals at least once a week.
• 4. They will digitally report back to me weekly on the condition of their 5 individuals.
As a result, we as pastoral leadership will consistently be aware of the “state of our flock” and those we serve in the community at large.
• 5. As Pastoral leadership we also will be consistently caring for those caring for others (ie Pastoral Tele-Care Team).
•6. As a Lead Pastor, I will supplement the work of our Pastoral Tele-Care Team with ongoing contacts with our congregation.
Our goal is that every single individual from our Heritage Valley Assembly church family, along with folks from our community initiatives (such as Grief Share, etc), will be personally contacted one to one weekly.
• 7. Urgent needs will also be responded to by our Pastoral Team through our church phone number 780-699-6315, or heritageva@gmail.com
• 8. We will also be reaching out to the individuals and organizations, both home and globally, we have supported as a church. We want to include them in our Pastoral Tele-care initiative.
We trust this simple, but all encompassing approach to caring for our church family and community will help us support one another during this Covid 19 pandemic.
God Bless!
Pastor Larry...Psalm 23

Due to the concerns over the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have postponed Griefshare meetings until April 1st.
In addition, Griefshare and the Young Adult Bible Study have been postponed until April 2nd.
We are all aware of the COVID-19 coronavirus) situation that is unfolding around the world. The progression of the virus is continuously in the news and on social media. I want to provide some insight as to how we, as Christians, might think about the virus and speak to the potential impact it might have on our church in the coming weeks and months.
I’m beginning that process today and will do so over the next number of Sundays with further details.
3. We are meeting as a church leadership team this week and we will be discussing further COVID-19 protocols for Heritage Valley Assembly. We will share these with you next Sunday via letter, email, public announcement, on our church website: www.heritagevalleyassembly.com and our church Facebook page.
During this challenging time, as church leadership, we want to ensure we are doing all we can to work together with our public authorities to protect the health and well-being of our community at large and our church family.
However, let us all continue to pray for God’s care to be upon those affected.

Dear friends, Heritage Valley Assembly WILL be meeting at Taylor Seminary, 11525 23 Avenue for Sunday, March 15 worship.
We have been carefully following the advice of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw regarding protecting the health of our community at large during this Covid-19 pandemic. She has indicated that places of worship can remain open, particularly if meetings are of 250 people and under. We fall into that category. Therefore, if you are planning to come to our service on Sunday please be apprised of the following:
1. If you are sick, please stay home.
2. If you’ve just returned from international travel, please self quarantine for 14 days.
3. If you develop a cold or are short of breath, etc, contact Health Link 811 and pursue further health advice ASAP.
4. If you are healthy and planning on attending, please be very diligent on ensuring your hands are clean throughout your time. We do have cleaning dispensers throughout our facility, which is in a very clean and sanitized condition.
5. Though we are a highly inviting and friendly church, expressing such with handshakes, hugs, etc...we are kindly asking all to verbally greet and chat only and not by physical touch.
6. We have decided to postpone the serving of Communion this Sunday.
7. We are asking that we provide some space between us in overall social distancing. It is suggested by medical folks that between 5- 6 feet or 2 meters is helpful.
8. Please ensure you cough or sneeze into a tissue rather than your hand. Please dispose of the tissue into a nearby plastic garbage bag/can.. Please check this Heritage Valley Assembly Facebook page and/or our church website www.heritagevalleyassembly.com for regular, ongoing posts concerning our church and the Covid-19 pandemic.
10. If you are unable to physically attend our morning service, you can view the gathering via Pastor Matthew Pipke’s Facebook page.
11. Keep informed by connecting with the websites of Alberta Health Services, Government of Alberta or City of Edmonton.
We will have more to share in the next few days or as urgent developments require immediate communication.
Stay focused on trusting in God, protecting yourself and let’s make sure we are watching out for our families, friends and neighbours. May God’s Peace prevail in all our lives.
God bless! Pastor Larry
Post #2 - March 13, 2020 Greetings all! For those of you who enjoy coming together once a month for lunch and fellowship as part of Heritage Valley Assembly’s 60+ ENRICH group...we are postponing this coming Tuesday’s gathering.
In light of the fact that most of us are guests coming into the beautiful Heritage Market Grill which has an older population...we don’t want to place anyone at risk for their health. We’ll continue to keep you up to date on the status of April’s scheduled meeting.
God bless you all and stay safe and healthy everyone. With God’s amazing help and the incredible work of our health professionals and public officials...we’ll come through this. God bless you with His peace and strength!
Pastor Larry

1. As a church, we are not in the best position to be a source of information or medical advice concerning COVID-19. If you would like to know more about the coronavirus, please visit the following websites: Global Affairs Canada; Public Health Agency of Canada; Alberta Health Services; and the Government of Alberta
2. However, to continue to minimize the spread of any respiratory virus (including the flu and COVID-19), Alberta Health Services recommends the following: Wash your hands with soap and water often. If soap and water are not readily available, you can use alcohol-based hand sanitizer, if hands are not visibly dirty. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. Use a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw it in a garbage bin lined with a plastic bag. If you don't have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve. Sanitize your hands immediately after coughing and/or sneezing. Stay home from work, school or church if you're sick. Clean and disinfect surfaces that are shared and used often.
3. We are meeting as a Church Leadership Team this week and we will be discussing and developing further COVID-19 protocols for Heritage Valley Assembly. We will be sharing these with you via letter, email, public announcement, on our church website (www.heritiagevalleyassembly.com) and our church FACEBOOK page. During this challenging time, as Church Leadership, we want to ensure we are doing all we can to work together with our public authorities to protect the health and well-being of our community at large and our church family. However, let us all continue to pray for God's care to be upon those affected.
God bless. Pastor Larry
